Greenwich Police say they responded to the area of Merritt Parkway northbound near exit 29 (Lave Avenue) on a report of a driver slumped over the wheel on the side of the road on Sunday, April 7 around 11:45 p.m.

Officers say they located a silver Honda with heavy front end damage traveling south on Lake Avenue near Old Mill Road.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Anthony Cangemi of White Plains, allegedly told officers that he had no recollection of being involved in an accident. Police say he was also speaking in a slurred and lethargic manner and was unsteady on his feet.

Cangemi was then asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.

Congemi was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and operating without a license.

Cangemi was released after posting $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Monday, April 22.
